Light fixtures FAQs
How can I get the absolute best lighting in my bathroom?
Bathroom lighting can actually be much more important than people might
realize. If you are attempting to improve the lighting, you may want
to try some of the following: Try to position the wall sconces on both
sides of the bathroom mirror at least about 28” apart and about
60” from the floor. If you really want to make sure all areas
of your face will be well lit, install a fixture that is at least two
feet wide just over the mirror. Doing something like adding a ceiling
fixture can help in balancing the light.
Are there times when I should or should not use portable lamps
in a room?
There is no real science involved with figuring out how to use portable
lamps. Basically, portable lighting should be used where additional
task lighting is needed. This means that if you feel like you need more
light, portable lighting could be an option. However, the final decision
is really up to your personal preference.
Here is a good rule of thumb: the bottom of a lampshade for either
a floor lamp or table lamp should be somewhere around three-and-a-half
feet from the floor.
Can I trust solar lights?
If you would have asked this question 15 years ago, the answer may
have been no, but there have been enough technological developments
in recent years to make investing in solar lights a sound investment.
These lights typically do not shine quite as bright as some others,
but they are definitely more financially feasible and are quite reliable.
Using these kinds of lights in places like your garden or patio areas
is a great idea because it allows you to utilize the natural energy
from the sun instead of having to pay beaucoup bucks to keep the lights
on.
